Hazell\u2019s war grave behind the statue of St Michael within the church.<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Cecil John Hazell<\/strong> (1915-44) was born in Oxfordshire, the son of Reginald Henry and Mary Elizebeth Hazell. A private in the Royal Army Service Corps, he died in Normandy on 11 August 1944, aged 29, and is buried in Bayeux War Cemetery (pictured).<\/p>\n<p>Hazell was an active member and leader of the 4th Bury St Edmunds (St John\u2019s) Scout Group, and is memorialized on the national Scouts Second World War Roll of Honour.
