Revd Alick Charles Leech (1865-1904) was a curate at St John’s from 1903 until his death the following year, aged 38. The son of a Suffolk surgeon, he was educated at the Grammar School in Bury St Edmunds and Cavendish College and Downing College, Cambridge. He became a deacon in 1888 in Liverpool and was priested the following year. He served churches in Lancashire, Australia, Norwich, Jersey and Gosport, Hampshire, before coming to St John’s. He is remembered at St John’s by a crucifix hanging above the credence table.
