Revd David Denoon Williams (b.1937) was educated at King’s College, London – he was awarded the AKC, the Associateship of King’s College, in 1962 – and priested in 1963. After a six-year curacy at Brentwood St Thomas he was appointed priest-in-charge at St John’s in 1969 and Vicar the following year. He was widely respected for his pastoral skills, particularly with people in serious trouble. During his incumbency the church adopted more high church practices, including the use of incense at regular Sunday Mass (in addition to major festivals). Fr Williams left the church in 1985 and has not served again as a priest.
